Funeral Celebrancy Course is available by distance education (correspondence)
by way of a Participant Guide and Manual.
The name of the course is "Perform General Funeral Celebrancy"
and is designed for the funeral performed by a Civil Celebrant as
opposed to a Religious Celebrant, although it contains a great deal
of information that is common to both styles of ceremony.
This is a nationally accredited course - the code number being WFSFNL407A.
This
is a comprehensive course that includes the following, but much
more than:
The first contact
with a Funeral Director or member of the public to engage the services
of the Funeral Celebrant.
The interview
of the next-of-kin or person making the funeral arrangements.
Planning the
funeral ceremony - to include time for readings, speakers, reflection.
Performing the
funeral ceremony - crematorium, graveside or other place, memorial
service.
Role and overview
of others - RSL, Freemasons.
Sample of a
funeral ceremony for a baby, a person who has committed suicide,
an accident victim, a person who has led a long life.
A true story
of a home death and the do-it-yourself preparation for burial, with
no Funeral Director involved.
Pre-death ceremony
arrangements.
Readings and
prayers
Information
about the mortuary and crematorium.
Health regulations
regarding burials and cremations.
Benefit of grief
counselling.
Photos of enhancements
for the ceremony, and aids to the celebrant.
Those purchasing the course will be asked to write a ceremony based
on a case study given, and to perform this ceremony on videotape
or DVD. A Statement of Attainment will then be awarded.
This is a very
comprehensive course which provides information exceeding the knowledge
required to be a successful Funeral Celebrant. The information will
enable the Celebrant to be much more informed when dealing with
the bereaved, and to confidently perform a funeral ceremony.
